Technology in Schools – Summer review 2019
The summer is often one of Class Technology Ltd’s busiest times. Schools are out, but our teams are in, setting up classroom technology for the new school year.
Serverless schools
Class Technology LTD have been working with schools to set up ‘serverless’ systems using Microsoft Technologies. Serverless is a cloud computing model where majority of the hardware required is offsite.
We have recently designed a serverless system for a school in Oxford using all of the free Microsoft Technologies that are available for schools – did you know that you get 50gb of Mail, unlimited personal cloud storage, SharePoint and Microsoft teams all for free? Working with a partner, such as Class Technology, we can help develop your school and find the correct solution to work with your aims of enhancing teaching and learning.
Education for the 21st Century – Eden Park High School, Beckenham
CTS are delighted to have been involved with Education for the 21st Century (E21C) in the development of their new school, Eden Park High School in Beckenham. A new school which has been built from the ground up, CTS developed and implemented the ICT Infrastructure for this new site – which includes full use of the Microsoft Cloud alongside building a central infrastructure which is being rolled out across the academies. CTS have been fully involved in this project – drawing on their experience with project managing and installing ICT in new builds.
E21C is a Multi Academy Trust with 8 schools based in Bromley and Canterbury. Eden Park High School was opened in September 2017 on a temporary site, opening in September 2019 in a state of the art building.
Microsoft and Google Partnerships
This summer we have really drawn on our Microsoft and Google partnerships to improve the service Class Technology Ltd is providing to all of our clients. We have roiled out a significant amount of Surface Devices within schools, promoting a 1:1 learning ratio of devices.
Surface is a trusted and easy to manage Microsoft device, and a key device of ours. We have built up a Microsoft Partnership purely on device level. This allows us access to the best pricing options (which we in turn pass on to our schools), and have skilled technicians to roll out devices.
We use Microsoft Autopilot to deploy each device and are currently working to around 6 minutes per device for a seamless deployment and that is from opening the box! Perhaps the biggest time saving factor is that using Autopilot we no longer have to image devices!
With our Google Partnership, we have integrated Google into our wrap around service, there is no more “one product only” scenario. We can offer Google Support, Training and Implementation Services to ensure schools have the best of both worlds. Alongside this, Chromebooks in both tablet and laptop form are becoming extremely popular! Like the Surface, with Chromebooks we have access to the best pricing, training and implementation to ensure you have the best service possible and don’t regret choosing a partner to work with for your ICT implementations.
